Anne K. Gross, Ph.D., received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Duke University. She currently writes and speaks
full time on issues ranging from how culturally based shame shapes a family to how to overcome adversity in your own life. The author of the award winning book The Polio Journals: Lessons from My Mother, she has written articles on relationships and personal growth for BettyConfidential.com, an online women's interest publication.
Dr. Gross's previous professional positions include assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center, regional consultant for the Social Security Disability program, and more recently, a member of the
education committee of Colorado's Anti-Defamation League, where she also participated in their school based No Place for Hate
program. She has published in professional psychology journals as well as essays and editorials in the Denver Post and
New Mobility magazine. She and her husband live in Colorado and have two daughters.
